James Staddon | Homeschool Connect Expo 2020
About the Speaker

James Staddon is a former homeschool student, now professional photographer and full-time photography educator from Salem, West Virginia.

With a background in graphic design, his keen interest and endless preoccupation with photography eventually led him to start up Lenspiration in 2009 to provide budding photographers with a family-friendly place to learn photography through real-life photo assignments, online training, and hands-on photography workshops. James is a huge fan of outdoor recreation, enjoys dabbling in business entrepreneurship, and is usually on the go with his camera somewhere in the US or abroad. His love for adventure has given him opportunity to develop skills in a wide range of photography genres, from wedding and event photography, to product and landscape photography. Through his ministry, business, and workshops, he loves to see inspiration planted, nurtured, and expressed for the glory of God in the work of other photographers.

James has been speaking, vending, and organizing Photography Teams regularly at homeschool events since 2014. Feel free to stop by the Lenspiration booth for a chat if you happen to be attending any of the following events he plans to attend in 2020:

Learning photography
by shooting photo assignments

At Lenspiration, we learn photography by shooting real-life photo assignments.
Here's how it works:

In this way, we get practical, hands-on training in photography! One month at a time.

And you can shoot your first assignment completely for free. First month of Lenspiration Membership is totally free, and if you like it, you can continue your membership for as long as you want at 30% off forever if you use the Expo-special coupon EXPO30%MO at checkout. Offer expires on the last day of the Expo. Cancel any time.

If you're new to photography, or if you'd rather take a more structured approach to learning photography, then assignments aren't the only way to learn photography at Lenspiration. Members are welcome to start with the Photography Program and work their way through that first. Workbooks are available for anyone to download for free.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Lenspiration to any photographer whether you are a beginner, an enthusiast, or a professional! The Lenspiration forums are a great place to submit questions, answers, or get your photos critiqued. The real-life photo assignments have been a great place for me to learn how to take photos for a specific publisher’s needs, and I also really like the live photo critiques that happen every month! After going on a field day with James I had a lot of useful tips and tricks in my pocket, and I also learned to shoot in Manual mode which is super useful! I also really appreciate knowing that Lenspiration is “a wholesome, family-friendly, place to learn photography.” Thanks for all you do James!!

James is an enthusiast when in comes to photography. Whether it is taking wedding photos or teaching about the ins and outs of using a camera, he is a fun person to be around. He not only takes professional photos, but is great at explaining to someone else how to get those shots for themselves.

I’ve worked very closely with James and observed his practices over the years. He loves photography, but his love for people is even greater. I have seen him bend over backwards and make great sacrifices to offer excellent service and help his students improve their photography skills time and time again.
