Author Jenny L. Cote joined the Lexington Historical Society to read from her new novel, The Declaration, the Sword, and the Spy for Virtual Patriots' Day 2020. Her team of talking animals that work behind the scenes in pivotal points of human history are eye witnesses to the first shots fired at Lexington Green on April 19, 1775. But who did they see fire first? Listen as Jenny reads the historically accurate scene brought to life with fictional characters and exciting fantasy for young readers (and older ones, too.) She'll discuss the real history of what we DO know and what we DON'T know on that day when the first shot was heard around the world. She explains how important it is to research the history to get it right, especially when you weave it as historical fiction.
