Kids play computer games (Xbox games and PlayStation games too). Even my own children, who have little access to computers, have played plenty of computer games. Be it at a friend's house or just visiting with cousins. I always know when they play computer games because they want to tell me everything about it (they're not quite teenagers yet). It excites them and generates creative ideas. While playing endless amounts of games isn't healthy, or the correct solution, they are growing up in a technology-driven world. Understanding not just how to use technology but why technology works is a major advantage in our world today. Learning how to write computer code gives kids a foundation to understand how all technology works. It's amazing what it does for their confidence and creativity.
